I just updated my Apple TV 4K and this same thing started happening to me today. Watched two Netfix movies last night with no issues, but tonight the sound streams to my airplay Bose speakers ahead of the video. Also, my picture is slightly glitchy. When I change to TV speaker (which runs through HDMI cable) sound is perfectly synced with video and no more glitch. Again, this was NOT an issue until my Apple TV updated. This doesn't look like a fluke. It looks like a BAD UPGRADE. PLEASE FIX ASAP!
I am having the same issues with the NEW Apple TV. lagging after watching for a few minutes, however, may lagging occurs on YouTube TV and other apps. I have been a big supporter of Apple TV but if this lagging is not corrected I will have to change hardware, which is a lot since I have two homes. What is Apple doing to try and fix this problem?
This is happening across all of the live streaming apps. Please investigate the root cause. This is absolutely repeatable. This makes it difficult to recommend Apple TV as a streaming device for anything but prerecorded material. I am available to assist in any troubleshooting.
Apps are engineered for the devices where they're downloaded, so you may have different settings or performance for each. For example, the Netflix app may work differently when downloaded directly on your Smart TV than it does when downloaded on your Apple TV, or it may require various settings to be customized to optimize performance through that device.
Watching ESPN last night during the baseball game the sync was so off the on camera was unwatchable. I have a high speed cable and running sound via hdmi . Watching Amazon prime or Netflix no problem but streaming ESPN was horrible.
I have the same issue but only if I use airplay to direct the audio to my speakers. However, if the audio is transmitted through bluetooth, then I get perfect synchrony. This problem only happened after my Apple tv HD had it last update on September 20, 2021.
To get very specific, shows like Star Trek DS9 (Netflix) and John Oliver (HBO) go out is sync almost immediately. Any live streaming app also. Newer shows and movies go out of sync less frequently. I have no problems with streaming directly through the TV (LG CX). I think this is my last apple TV.
Since upgrading to 360 netflix sound is terrible and way out of sync, it did this before but I could fix this by changing the audio setting from 5.1 to original, but this does not work with the new upgrade.
Choose whether you want the audio output to follow the quality of the original content (Dolby Digital where available) or to be converted to PCM 2.0 (stereo) or PCM 5.1 (uncompressed multi channel sound). Using PCM settings may resolve audio sync issues.
If you are using a sound bar try connecting the 360 to a TV HDMI port without ARC. If you are connected to a HDMI ARC connector on the TV try connecting to a non ARC HDMI connector, using ARC has been a problem for some people. Also if you are using fibre optic straight from the 360 to your sound bar then set Dolby to Follow Content.
I have updated software several times and had Comcast out to re-run a line to my place to fix internet speeds. The issue goes away if I exit out of the show (without exiting out of the app) and then starting it again. This issue has really only popped up in the past year, but it is consistent and happens multiple times a day.
Have you tried removing the channel that you are experiencing the issue with from the Roku home screen? Then, disconnect your device from power for a minute. Plug it back in, then try to add the channel back once more and see if this clears up the issue.
I have been experiencing exactly the same issues as you with my new Hisense U8H TV and my Roku devices. I have tried both a Roku Ultra and a Roku 4K+ stick and have the same problems. It is only with Xfinity Stream app, which is what I use 99% of the time. I do not have a soundbar. Have tried everything listed everywhere, and, as you, just backing out of the program and going back into it fixes the issue temporarily. This audio synch or volume issue happens multiple times per hour and is very annoying. I have used the same devices on a Panasonic plasma screen TV and have not had the same audio issues. I am ready to chuck the Roku streamers!
In the meantime, please help us with the required details below so we can send additional information for the investigation to our engineering team, and once more information is available I'll be sure to let the Community know:
We understand that you're having a problem with the Xfinity app. I'd love to help you with that. We would like to know what went wrong so we can assist you further and fix the issue, but we need more details.
On series that support it, the Neflix 5.1 audio seems to be in sync with video (so problem seems more obvious when 5.1 not supported), but I get occasional very short complete cuts in sound when watching 5.1 Netflix shows.
The big kicker, I don't have any issues at all (sync or audio drop out) when watching films/games through the PS4 or when watching TV via the cable box! So I guess that rules out HDMI and suggests its the Netflix app or something to do with how the TV processes streamed audio.
Through the ps4 Netflix app I had no issues - so I think the problem I am experiencing is most likely due to a bug/compatibility issue in the TV set (or the current version of Netflix that it operates)
I've read through all the forums, I've done all the resetting. Tried reconnecting the WiFi, swapping the audio types. Our tv doesn't handle changing the digital audio delay - it just glitches.
I don't know if it is related but last night I noticed the voice was out of sync on live Ch4 but as it was working correctly on all other channels I just assumed it was to do with the broadcast and ignored it. It is back to normal today.
I get random lip sync slippages all the time with my Stream puck. It just doesn't seem to be particularly good at maintaining proper sync. It seems to go in and out, just by a few frames, pretty much at any time, depending on how much you switch from watching a live stream to an app-based stream. Some days it's fine, some days it's not. It's entirely random.
We've found the culprit is the BBC. There appear to be no problems with satellite channels or ITV. So if this problem really bugs you, avoid BBC channels. We find Skystream is worth it simply to avoid having ugly satellite dishes or cables running outside and drilled through walls.
I've just noticed this today on sky sports cricket. The sound off the bat comes a second before the ball actually hits it. I've done what everyone has said on the forums by changing from auto on sound to PCM stereo and still no joy. And the amount of times I unplug and plug back in is getting ridiculous! After having this TV for 2 years now, I would have thought it would have been sorted out by now.
I now hope to cancel my sky stream and will never come back to sky - I solved the lip sync by connecting the puck to the soundbar hdmi earc in then out earc to the tv, hdmi cable is ugreens latest. today trying to watch Eurosport's UHD coverage of French open and it's horrendous - the sound of ball hitting racquet is completely out of sync. I have tried pass through which previously was okay pcm Dolby etc but it's all out of sync - normal hd is okay. If they won't let me Cancel during contract I'll see what consumer rights I have as not getting advertised uhd product and will not come back to sky.
I have the same issue as well. Seems to be sporadic. Happens now and then and then no issues for long periods of time. Seems to jump out of sync more when i pause a programme (both live and streamed content). Resolves by switching off and on again but means that if you unpause live tv and its out, you then resume live again so miss parts of the viewing. It can be frustrating.
Same boat. Sky Stream Puck. BBC is out of sync, if I correct it, other channels are then impacted.. I'm not going to avoid BBC, that's not a solution it's a very poor workaround. I have IPTV and that's on point, so it's not BBC, it's Sky. Very poor on basic functionality of syncing lips with sound. Not impressed.....
I managed to get Netflix installed (and HBO Max and Disney+).
But again I experience that the sound is out of sync and the video is buffering a little and the frame rate is a bit flickering with Netflix. With the HBO and Disney it works fine.
To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.
I activated debug-logging.
I rebooted the system, twice.
I started Netflix, really bad image quality, but the sound seems to sync.
I started HBO, the image quality ia better but buffering a lot, sound seems to be out of sync.
Same with Disney+.
