Thank you for bringing the new version to our attention, Dr. Samai.
A quick reading of this revised version does indeed give the distinct impression that significant improvements have been made to the previous version based on the comments during the stakeholder consultations.
It is noteworthy that several principles have criteria specifically for smallholders. Although the principles have been expanded from 8 to 12; there are only a few more criteria.
The rural and social development criterion is a solid step forward to recognising small scale palm oil production in Thailand.
A new principle now addresses food security - which may be problematic - even if it is locally defined.
I wonder how the Thai national interpretation will evolve in the context of this new version? (attached)
Does anyone have information on developments at the OAE to this end? (following the workshop held by OAE with the RSPO (Proforest) and GTZ in May 2009)
