Dear friends,
I'm thinking about taking AF 623 Financial Modeling this Fall. Does anybody know what is it about? how hard is it? and how interesting is it? if I'm not a finance major.

Hi,
I took it last spring. It was one of my favorite classes. The professor(Lucia Gao) was very nice and helpful, however she has an accent and you'll have difficulty understanding her in the first few classes. I think you can take it if you know all the basics about finance. You'll basically adopt all the financial formulas into speadsheet. For example, forecasting financial statements and constructing a portfolio. Dr. Gao was an easy grader and you can ask her any questions. She is very responsive via e-mail. Assignments were time-consuming but not that difficult and there was no exam for this class. Will definitely get an A.
