"Stay dry" is good advice for both you AND the computer. I hope the
waters never reach you, my friend.
I'm not sure how similar the controls are for Win7, but here's how to
handle the Thai font issue in WinXP:
Open up the Control Panel > Regional & Language Options
Go to the Languages tab and place check marks in the boxes for both
Complex script & Eastern Asian languages. Your wording may vary.
"Ok" your way out of all open property sheets.
Then, get yourself a copy of the Arial Unicode MS font, which is part
of the MS Office suite and can either be extracted from Office's CAB
files (if you have the CDs/DVDs) or found on the internet if you don't
have access to Office. Note that this font is HUGE (23MB) because it
contains every character within the Unicode character set. So, unless
you have a wicked system, do NOT install it. Instead, just double
click on it to open up the Font's sample page whenever you need it.
That simple act of opening up its sample page will make the font
available to your entire system as long as that page is open. When
you are done with translating/proofreading, close the sample window
and it will no longer bog down your system. ;)
