ตามที่คุณ akom เสนอ ขอคำแปลของ "snippet" ใน thread ก่อน

snippet ใช้ในพวก editor เอาไว้แทรกข้อความอย่างเร็ว
ด้วยการพิมพ์ตัวย่อแล้วกดปุ่ม trigger
(คำว่า trigger ใน gedit แปลว่า "สะกิด") เพื่อเติมคำเต็ม

ตอนนี้ ใน gedit ใช้คำว่า "ข้อความสั้น"

ใน gedit ที่เป็นคำอธิบายการใช้ปลั๊กอิน snippet text มีข้อความประมาณนี้....
Snippet plugin

ก็น่าจะแปลว่า "ข้อความสั้น" ครับ

ส่วนคำว่า "ย่อ" มักจะใช้ abbreviate หรือ abridge ถ้าเป็นแท็ก <a href> จะมี attribute abbr ทำให้ลิงก์ถูกย่อด้วย "..."

อีกคำนึงที่เกี่ยวกับ snippet คือ snippet code คงจะหมายถึงโค้ดสั้น ๆ เช่นกัน
