In a world where our expectations of privacy have been turned upside down, will you help consumers fight to regain control of their personal data?
Consumers International (CI) is the one and only global campaigning voice for consumers, representing more than 240 consumer rights groups from 120 countries around the world. Our main goal is to ensure that consumer rights - from food safety to online privacy to fair financial services - can never be ignored.
We are looking for a mid-level project coordinator to head up a new project on consumer data protection in emerging economies. Working under the supervision of the programme officer for CI's Consumers in the Digital Age programme, you will ensure the smooth running of project activities, which include the development of an expert-led research study on consumer data protection in Brazil and China, followed by the development of an e-learning package to build capacity of the consumer movement and policy makers on these issues.
The successful candidate will have a background and interest in privacy and data protection, and have sufficient experience to efficiently manage a multi-country project involving stakeholders from both private and public sectors, with minimal supervision. You will be able to communicate comfortably and clearly in English and Portuguese, have sound research skills, and excellent attention to detail.
The candidate will also be expected to provide research and administrative support for a civil society network on broader issues around the Internet and human rights, so a background in other areas involving the intersection of consumer rights and technology would be beneficial.
