Não perca a chance de conhecer Simon Phipps, uma das pessoas mais
influentes na comunidade de software livre e um dos principais
responsáveis pela transformação da máquina virtual Java e do Solaris
em software livre.
Ele estará no Centro de Competência em Software Livre do IME/USP na
próxima segunda-feira, dia 27. Durante toda a tarde, ele vai falar
sobre "Open Source Concepts and Realities", enfocando dois temas
principais: "Open Source Means Business Value" e "Open Source
Communities". É uma ótima oportunidade de conhecer mais sobre os dois
temas através de alguém fortemente envolvido na relação entre o
software livre e a indústria de software.
O evento será dividido em duas partes:
14:00h - Open Source Means Business Value
This session will consider the relationship between core business
values associated with open source (cost control, flexibility,
investment protection and more) and the core philosophical values of
software freedom. It will also consider the effects of software
patents, trademarks and copyright reform on those business values.
15:30h - Intervalo
16:00h - Open Source Communities
This session will consider the kinds of communities that gather around
an open source commons and how to evaluate them. It will also discuss
the changes being considered at the Open Source Initiative (OSI).
17:30h - Encerramento

Sobre o palestrante: Simon Phipps is chief strategy officer at
identity startup ForgeRock, a director of the Open Source Initiative
and writes for IDG’s ComputerWorldUK as well as his own blog,
webmink.com. He’s been in the computer industry around 30 years and
has worked for Sun, IBM and Unisys among others.
