Response to the initial email recruitment of
volunteers to work at Oktoberfest was anemic at best. A handful of the "usual
suspects" responded, the same people who respond to all calls for help. They are
appreciated, but they are not nearly enough to do the job. Now it's time
for the rest of you to step up and help THA put on a fun and inclusive event,
where nobody has to work too hard or too long and everyone has time to enjoy
themselves. Serious setup work begins at 4 PM on Friday the 23rd. We
will be serving food from 5 to 9 PM. Cleanup happens from 9 until 10 PM (or
however much beyond that it takes to finish). For simplicity sake, we are asking
members to volunteer for one of two shifts - from 4 to 7 PM, and from 7 to 10
PM. There will be a variety of tasks available, including ticket sales (both
event and raffle tickets), dishing up and serving food, bussing
tables, and cleanup afterward (including limited potwashing and kitchen
wipedown). So, please respond to this email with your commitment to
volunteer to work the early (4-7) or late (7-10) shift. Please include
