Timber Heritage Museum had a good planning committee meeting today. One of
the concerns of giving rides on the historic speeder is the possibility of
it breaking down in the middle of an operating day. Our volunteer Carl
Casale has located a hyrail pickup truck for sale, complete with utility
bed/ tool boxes. It came off of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe RR.
Conversations with the owner have gotten the total cost to purchase and
get it to Samoa down to $5500. He would like to see it go to a museum
group like THA, but cannot totally give it away. This would give us a
vehicle to go out and rescue our speeder riders and also give us a vehicle
we could drive out to a work site, then put it on the tracks to get to the
final destination.

Carl and I are willing to to put up the major portion of the money.
Several people at the planning meeting pledged $100 each on the spot. I
would like to invite others to pledge money for this important, and cool,
piece of equipment. I have asked Carl to tell the seller we will buy it,
so it doesn't get away! We will see how soon we need to send the money.
