This Saturday and Sunday are the big kick off for the steam ups at Fort
Humboldt State Park. Our volunteers have rebuilt the bearings that needed
new babbit on the Bear Harbor locomotive, donating $10,000 of value to
State Parks to keep their and our equipment rolling. Dovetailing with the
Rhody Fest, we will have many demonstrations at Fort Humboldt, especially
on Saturday. And, of course, the train rides. We still need folks to help
serve food at the event. Contact Mike Kellogg if you would like to help,
especially on Sunday. Kello...@att.net, 443-2957. Perhaps he would like
help with the bookstore, too?
The popular crew car "speeder" will be in the Rhody Parade, then brought
to Fort Humboldt for display. Jen and Pete Johnston are organizing this.
Thursday after 5pm will be loading the speeder onto the trailer, then
attaching the signs and decorating. The final attaching of the flowers
will be in the parade line up on Saturday 8am on 7th street, Eureka. That
is so they don't fly off transporting it there. Judging is at 9am. We need
lots of flowers. We will be cutting rhodys and other flowers from our
yards. Anyone who can contribute is invited to do so.
See ya there, Marcus
