Actual behavior:
- Splash screen never disappears and the game looks like an unresponsive grey rectangle.
- In logcat, only "Awake" message is seen, meaning Start() and Update() methods never get called.
P.S.:
Targeting API Level 31 is currently required by 3rd-party libraries and soon will be required by Google Play, which makes this problem a pressing matter.
Upgrading to a newer version of Unity might seem the obvious thing to do. But it's nearly impossible for huge and mature projects we currently support. So a fix or a workaround that allows us to stay on Unity 2018 will be much appreciated.
On awake, try calling Permission.RequestUserPermission() with a permission that ISNT declared in your androidManifest file. This will immediately return that the permission is denied on awake and allow the game to continue running. I think whats happening is that Unity isnt pushed into the foreground correctly by the OS, but the permission check allows it to regain focus and continue running. I've tried this in builds from Unity 2018.4 LTS and Unity 2019.2 and both work fine and run when targeting android 31.
i try to call user permission dialog, if i did not click the "allow" or click refuse ,the game can be resume.
but,if i click allow, restart game is still freeze.

Ever since my phone updated to Android 9 my phone has had nothing but problems. Facebook, Google Chrome, grubhub delivery driver, caviar delivery driver all freeze and I have to restart the app. I use my phone as my main source of income. This only started happening after I updated to Android 9. Facebook also doesn't allow me to post gifs sometimes but that is a minor concern compared to the apps I use for work (grubhub/caviar). Help! This is going to force me to buy a new phone, I paid $$ for this phone when it first came out(799 msrp) and Android 9 bricked my phone and then after talking to you guys the first time and doing a clean install I can make calls and use the Bluetooth but apps constantly freeze and I have to constantly restart my phone. Needless to say if I have to buy a new phone you can permanently consider me a lost customer.
1. The firmware of your phone has a problem. I'd recommend to backup your data and use the Xperia PC Companion to do a software repair. By doing this the complete firmware will be flashed again, so if any problem existed with the current installation they should be gone then.
2. You have an app installed which is causing problems in the background that result into issues with other apps and tasks. After doing the software repair just install the necessary apps and use the phone for a while. If no issues occur then install the additional apps one by one to see if and when the problems occur.
I had similer problem on my sony xperia z2 tablet, running android 6.1. I tried everything including factory reset. I then used safe mode, which indicated an app problem. I force stopped the first app and this was the problem app. IT WAS SONY ACCOUNT MANAGER!!

I am having a problem when running the android virtual device. My main problem is that it randomly freezes my whole system and I'm forced to restart my computer via the power button. Since I didn't have any problem before using android studio, I would say it comes from the avd (I didn't have any crash when not using the avd).
I am using Android Studio in Windows 7. Whenever I start my AVD in Android Studio it freezes all my windows and then I have to reset my computer. It happens every time I start my virtual device. Before starting the virtual device everything works fine in Android Studio.
s.r.o I have latest SDK and AVD installed. I also have Intel HAXM installed. The images I have tried to run on Android emulator are Android 5.1, x86/x86_64/armeabi. I have also played games for longer duration, so there is no CPU heating or anything.
Same environment, cpu, ram, os, android studio version...I have a nod 32 av with hips, host intrusion prevention system.It picks up any attempt to access an external host and requests permission.The avd and hips don't get along to well.I disable it when I need to launch the emulator and everything works fine
