Hereyou will be asked to provide answers to a few questions to ensure the TPS65994 is the correct device for your application. Note that the TPS65994 is only recommended for use in IPC or PC designs following an Intel based refence design.
Today I'm turning to you regarding the above-mentioned set up which I have been trying to get to work on a stable base on and off for over two and a half years now. Though HP has been very eager to help me with my problem, they have finally ceased to provide me with new ideas. Gigabyte, on the other hand, has not even made the attempt to answer my requests as their product has run out of warranty anyway.
The issue with the above-mentioned set up is that the EliteBook refuses to detect my Gaming Box for no apparent reason. Windows doesn't even detect the presence of an external device as far as my start-up logs are concerned. The only solution that appears to work on and off is a CMOS reset, until I disconnect either the EliteBook or the Gaming Box from power. Then I have to repeat the whole procedure again until the components start to play ball for no apparent reason.
HP has swapped my motherboard two times, they even have provided me with one of their g3 TB docking, which has worked out of the box. Oddly, the Gaming Box works perfectly fine when I daisy-chain it behind the G3 Docking.

3. try to force on the AORUS Gaming Box in case there is a race condition with the BIOS expecting the TB3 enclosure to be on for the TB3 port to activate, hence why daisy-chaining through the G3 Dock works as a workaround:
After one hour of going through your solutions, hence studying the manual of the BCU, I have to admit that I still have no clue about how to make TB-settings visible in my bios, nor power management settings under windows.
PCIe_PM-disable.bat is custom batch file I added to the HP BiosConfigUtility accompanying my 2018 HP ZBook Studio G5 build. It is designed for H/E 45W CPUs which host their PCIe ports off a PCH rather than Intel U/G SOCs that host the PCIe port on the CPU itself.
Regarding this work around, from what I understand in the postings regarding this solution, the problem here seems to be that the PSU doesn't want to power on with the AMD Card inserted. This is not the case in my setup. The PSU starts up nicely, as soon as I connect the Gaming Box with the Notebook. Oddly, the Notebook then doesn't even accept the power delivery from the Gaming Box.
As you are still under HP Warranty, maybe consider ask them for a side-grade/upgrade to a system that they confirm on their end has BIOS toggable Thunderbolt security options so can boot TB3 storage or attach a TB3 eGPU directly without using a TB3 daisy-chaining dock?
Yeah, I was already under the impression that freedom of choice wasn't on HP's mind when designing this machine. After all, it is a business notebook, made to equip a large size of employees with a capable machine that is easy to integrate and service. Just wanted to double-check with you.
It was just the bargain on eBay that looked so capable for the occasional gaming session on paper (and it actually has proven its capabilities in many more use cases to me to this date) that I couldn't resist.
Since I'm really not much of a gamer anymore, and the Gaming Box only serves as a port replicator/ power brick these days, it would be easiest to sell it for a used G4 docking instead. As I mentioned in the last post, technology is progressing, and I just realized that a used G4 has been dropping in price quite substantially.
We are using i.mx8mq in our project. The system uses MIPI as the main display, the DP port signal was connected to TUSB546 and TPS65994AD to configure the mux to achieve the DP alt mode. We failed to light up the display through the DP alt mode with some type-C to HDMI dongle ( or hub with HDMI output port). When the issue happened, we will see error log from console output like below and also reports invalid edid.

ROG Maximus XII Hero is the perfect foundation to the Republic of Gamers. It's a motherboard that packs substantial power, smart cooling and faster memory support under a stealthy skin. Loaded with renowned ROG features, from AI overclocking and AI cooling to attention-grabbing Aura Sync illumination, Maximus XII Hero is ready to perform and crafted for customization.
The Intel Comet Lake processor features 10 cores and a peak single-core Turbo speed that exceeds 5.3 GHz right out of the box. To cope with this increased demand on the system, Maximus XII Hero takes advantage of its intelligent VRM design and uses quality components to ensure the best gaming and daily productive computing experience.
Today's CPU architectures place incredible demands on motherboard power design by transitioning from deep power saving modes , going from lower-power mode to full load in an instant. Our latest VRM architecture rises to the challenge by utilizing teamed power stages to rapidly swing current, while maintaining exemplary thermal performance.
We became the first manufacturer to implement phase-doublers when we shipped our A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, back in 2005. The board's VRM was lauded for elegantly overcoming the power handling capabilities of components that were available at the time and also reducing voltage ripple. Those benefits led to phase-doublers becoming universally accepted in the industry, and they are still used for similar purposes today.
