I recently upgraded to the Palm Pre from my Treo 700p, and purchased
Motionapps Classic application, a Palm OS emulator for Tangled and
several other Palm applications I cannot replace with comparable webOS
applications.
Now that Greg has successfully helped figure out how to make it work
with the virtual SD card, I am happy to report it works just like it
did on my 700p, including the audio recordings, which is a bonus, the
audio in some applications in Classic doesn't work.
Installation is mostly the same, either installing the application by
HotSync (wifi or bluetooth only), or the application can be installed
with the multimedia through the USB cable into a folder on the device
labeled "Classic Install", when plugged into a computer, the Pre can
be viewed as a USB drive.
The only issue I've come across is the audio recordings can be seen by
the Pre's music application, so it tells me I have over 2000 songs,
but I sort them by album or artist so it's not an issue.

Thanks for those details about Tangled running on the Palm Pre.

P.S., Aren't bird songs songs? :*)

Tom,

Do you use the Tangled sighting application? (I'm wondering if
MotionApps also implemented the application switching capabilities of
PslmOS.)

I do use sighting, in fact, I was able to import my sightings from si.
I'm not sure what you mean by the switching capabilities though. When
I'm in the classification of sighting, I have the option for switch to
T.

Thanks. Yes, that's what I was asking: whether the emulator allowed
the Tangled application to switch to TS and the TS application to
switch to Tangled. It's good to know it does.

Just to test the limits of the MotionApps Classic emulator, what does
it do when you select the TS application's site list's 'select/GPSR
setup' menu item, and attempt to setup a wireless (Bluetooth)
connection?

That's beyond Classic's limit, it cannot pair via Bluetooth to
anything, that includes an external GPS (I can't use my TomTom
software), and Palm won't allow access to the internal GPS.
