Hi, Duane.

For efficiency, the sightings shown in the TS sighting list are not
directly the text records from the sighting files, but compiled
indexes to those files. Typically, when you add a sighting, the
record gets added to both the indexes and the sighting files. So they
stay in sync. However, after you edit a sighting file manually, you
should synchronize the indexes and the sighting files by

-- switching to the sighting list
-- switching to the sighting file list
-- checking the sighting files of interest
-- tapping the 'compile' button

Note that the site and observer lists are automatically recreated from
the contents of the sighting files when you compile them. This makes
it easy to delete the TS application and its internal databases
because you can reinstall the TS application and recompile the
sighting files to restore the internal databases (e.g., the site and
observer lists).

Greg - I opened my Excel sighting files on my PC with a card reader
and Excel 2007, made deletions, and "saved as" samename.csv back to
the card, but the sightings shown on the screen on my treo are still
the same as before I made the changes. As a double check, I took the
card back out, opened the file again with Excel and confirmed that the
changes had been saved. I also took the battery out and restarted my
phone and that did not help either. Its as if it is reading from a
different file than I am editing. Any suggestions?

Thanks - that took care of the problem. Duane
