TFA Newstalkers,

I am not sure what stages in your lives and teaching careers you are, but I wanted to take a moment to extend an invitation. A few staff members from my school, Sci Academy (a charter high school) in New Orleans, will be in DC this weekend, recruiting talent for the 2011-2012 school year. As you may know, education reform in New Orleans is something special, dynamic and real, a topic high in the collective consciousness. And I say, without ego or exaggeration, that Sci Academy is the best open-enrollment school I have ever seen or heard of, the vanguard of the vanguard that is trying to effect real change in a great, flawed, tragic and marvelous American city.

I know this is easy for me to say, but really, it's very easy to say that if you're planning on continuing a career in education for a long or short while, there's no reason not to do so at this school, in this city.

If you have any interest in meeting our gallant crew, my understanding is there is a larger New Orleans recruitment event at which they will be. This is just my opinion, but my opinion is: the school at which I teach is everything a school should be. Shoot me an e-mail or call (914 325 8613) and I could pass along more information.

Most of all, enjoy DC and all the movement-related goodness therein.
