As Sarah and I frantically transition in the blip between commencement and induction, I wonder how you guys dealt with TFA's schedule with Harvard's old calendar? I'm looking for stories first if they're there, wisdom is a secondary concern

Also: how much do they actually care about the Pre-Institute Work?  With the craze of everything going on over the past few weeks, it's definitely taken a back seat for me and now I'm freaking out that that will be a huge, huge problem...

Excited to actually be joining the ranks with all of you tomorrow!

I mostly just bitched about it a lot (I HAVE FUCKING 24 HRS OFF AFTER GRADUATING. THIS FUCKING SUCKS), skipped induction (it conflicted with graduation), and didn't do any of the pre-institute readings.  It was a pretty good plan.

Depends on your CMA, but it could be:
1. Ignored
2. Collected, then ignored

or something similar...

The pre-institute work is pretty helpful, but you won't get into too much trouble for not having it done/done well, for the most part. It does depend on CMA...

Our Induction was a week later my year, because we went to Phoenix instead of ATL, so I had the same deal as y'all do right now. I think I sweated a lot as I tried to move in.

Also, Asli and Sarah, come to the alternative ed panel tomorrow! If it's optional; if it's not, you'll be there anyway! I'm on the panel.

I didn't find the pre-institute work remotely helpful, because basically they are going to go over all that material at Institute anyway.

My CMA did not collect or even check to see if we had done the pre-institute work, but a few CMAs did.

Ya, same here.  My CMA didn't care at all about the pre-institute work; and the few that did only asked people to share what they had written for their last question.

I did the same as Carroll -- bitched about the 24 hr turnaround, skipped induction, and didn't do any pre-institute work.

By the way, I found the first week of institute -- while long and crammed with sessions -- a reasonable transition to the rest of institute, since the real work comes with teaching and planning with your collab.

Also, you should see who else is going to induction from Harvard and cry at the airport together. (Emma? Liz?)
