rectangular selections

I just tried to make a rectangular for the first time since
upgrading to TW 4.5 and it wouldn't work. Both the option-drag
and shift-option-click methods result in a regular,
non-rectangular, selection, and the cursor doesn't change to a
cross like it used to.

First, turn off word wrap in the current document. You'll see a stylized 'T' icon just above the top-left corner of the text window: when you click it, you'll see a dropdown that says "Soft Wrap Text".  That should be unchecked for rectangular selections to work.

Second, hold the OPTION key to make the selection.

Doh! I almost never turn soft wrap on, but happened to have
enabled it for the document I was working with in this instance
(I need to print a hard copy of it, so it needs to wrap). It
didn't occur to me that soft wrap would disrupt rectangular
selection, but now that I think about it, it makes sense.
