Mountain Lion has a feature to restore old windows when you restart the computer. TextWrangler has a list of all previously-opened windows that OS X tracks. When you restart the computer, it's the operating system that is doing it, not necessarily TextWrangler.

If you open System Preferences, click on General (under the Personal group), and check "Close windows when quitting an application," see if this resolves anything for you.

If this does, you can uncheck that option and simply hold down SHIFT (maybe it's OPTION/ALT) when you open TextWrangler, and it'll open without previous windows.

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion. Although I have the "reopen all open windows at restart" deal on the Mac unclicked, and have unchecked that feature in TW Prefs as well, TW keeps doing it; if I shut down the computer with a TW window open, the next time I open TW it will automatically reopen that window, unasked. I tried throwing out the "Saved Application State" data from my Library folder, but it hasn't stopped.

TW seems to be the only application on my system that's doing this (to date, anyway), and I never had this problem in Snow Leopard. Any hints?
