Adding a Custom Cleaner to a Cleaner Group

I've created a Cleaner Group and  a Custom Cleaner. There doesn't seem to be an intuitive way to add a cleaner to a group. I've tried to drag and drop, right clicking and command clicking. None of those seem to work.

How can I accomplish this?

Are you on TS 9 ?

- go to your Cleaner Group
- in the right column look for the cleaner/action you want to use.
- drag this cleaner to the centre of the window, while you are in your cleaner group
That's it.

If you want to find it using the COMMAND keys (Quick Clean), that's another step (Menu > QuickClean: your group.

As for now the TS9 settings, are not very intuitive.

As long as we don't have 'a best procedure'/ UG/ tutorial, I'm afraid many (me included!) will be wondering, especially when TextSoap is such a powerful app.

So to update the HowTo from above, I would do this:

- GoTo left column

- at bottom, choose + for a new cleaner,

- give it the name

The new cleaner will appear in the right column

- in the section Standard, then Custom cleaners, all the way down.

- select your cleaner group

□ comment: would be a good idea if the cleaner from the right column could be dragged and dropped into your cleaner grupp in the left column right away but that's not possible.

□ comment: once you select your cleaner group the list of cleaners in the right column changes to its default. So now you have to search for the cleaner you just created (Custom cleaners).

- When you have located your newly created cleaner just double click or drag it into the list in the centre of the window, belonging to your cleaner group.

Hopefully Mark or someone else can chime in and show a simpler way to do it.

I got this via a support email as well, and apparently, I only answered it there. So I will post the response here as well:

Select the cleaner group to edit it. This will display a list of cleaners.
When you want to add a custom cleaner (or any cleaner), type some of its name in the search field on the right.

For example, to add the custom cleaner "Cleanup Script" to "My Favorites":

  • Select "My Favorites" to edit the cleaner
  • Type in part of the name "cleanup"
  • Double-click the item, (or drag the cleaner from the RIGHT pane into the list in the middle) to add it to your custom group.
You can also use the Popup to select one of the pre-defined groups, including Custom cleaners to list all your custom cleaners.
Note: Search results include the entire library, so you don't need the cleaner to be in the specific group when searching.

Got it! It took me some playing around with it to figure it out. Thanks

As for now the TS9 settings, are not very intuitive.
As long as we don't have 'a best procedure'/ UG/ tutorial, I'm afraid many (me included!) will be wondering, especially when TextSoap is such a powerful app.

TextSoap 9 uses a relatively common layout: Navigation on the left, Workspace in the center, and Tools (for workspace) on the right.
This is essentially the Master/Detail user interface. Navigation on the left is broken into three sections: Library, Groups, and Cleaners.

I added the Start entry in the navigation list (left) to help with the creation process. Selecting Start, you can Create a New Cleaner, Create a New Group, or Import from a Library file.
In the case of a New Group, you can select an existing group as your starting point. This will copy the contents of a group into your new group.

□ comment: would be a good idea if the cleaner from the right column could be dragged and dropped into your cleaner grupp in the left column right away but that's not possible.
The left (navigation) column specifies which cleaner/group you are editing. It's a selector (like a popup menu).
Once you have selected the group to edit, you can drag-n-drop from the cleaners (right column) into the workspace (center column).

□ comment: once you select your cleaner group the list of cleaners in the right column changes to its default. So now you have to search for the cleaner you just created (Custom cleaners).
- When you have located your newly created cleaner just double click or drag it into the list in the centre of the window, belonging to your cleaner group.

The right column changes based on what you are editing. If you are editing a cleaner, then the right column contains actions. Among those actions are "Apply Cleaner" for all of the defined cleaners (built-in and custom). If you are editing a group, the right column contains defined cleaners, mapped similarly to how you see groups elsewhere in TextSoap. In both cases, the workspace is in the center.

How exactly is this done? Cannot reproduce it.

Oops. I misspoke. Currently, you can use any of the pre-built groups as a starting point. It does not currently support custom groups.

When creating a New Group, select one of the groups as a Template.
