Why use proprietary code?

In the spirit of accessibility, I would be much more impressed had
this been written in portable code.

OSX/Linux seem to always be excluded from these types of projects due
to non-posix code and/or the requirement of the latest, greatest
version of .NET being installed.

Hi,

We didn't really have a choice to use something else as we rely upon
the libsecond life library which is written in C#. Fortunately using
the mono framework textsl can run on linux as well as on mac. We
always try to go for solutions that are cross platform and can be used
by as many different platforms as possible. However currently we only
support the JAWS screen reader since every screen reader seems to work
differently and JAWS is only available for windows. If we have some
more time and resources I will put every effort in to make it
accessible to other screen readers as well.
