Textsecure ubuntuphone app started crashing some days ago

Due to this issue the ubuntuphone app is not usable anymore. Does anybody know a workaround or even how to fix this issue?

sorry I don't know off the top of my head what it could be, I haven't worked on the project in over a year and no longer have a working phone to test with.
