I'm having trouble connecting the android app to the Smartcom Wifi unit.

I've been through the process in the youtube video 3 times:

I have solid power and Wifi LEDs on the smartcom.

When I try to connect the App, I enter the 6-digit number given by the control panel, then enter the 4-digit passcode and the app returns the error:

"Server error
Connection to the server cannot be established"

I would have thought that if the control panel can receive the code, it is already communicating with the server?

One problem might be that I'm not 100% sure what the second passcode to be entered in the app is? The engineer passcode? The UDP Passcode? The user passcode?

Also, when entering the UDP passcode in the control panel, should it be the same as the engineer code or a new code?

I have tried multiple combinations of the above to no avail.

One thing I have noted is that if I unplug my wireless router, there is a connection problem when I try to enable the smartcom app in the control panel setup. This indicates to me that the wireless connection is indeed working.

I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks so it would be nice if I could get this sorted before I go. Also, when I have proved the smartcom I can offer it as an option to my clients.

Control panel type: Premier Elite V4
Control panel firmware version V4.00.24LS1
Texecom connect version: 1.0.0.70

Thanks,

John.

Hi John

Sorry to hear you are having problems connecting the Smartcom.

So, you have a solid WIFI and Power LED...which is good.  What about the first LED, the one on the left?

Please provide the last five digits of your panel GUID so this can be checked.

UDL password

When I initially set up the Smartcom i gave the panel a basic udl password. After getting everything set up and working correctly I went back to change the udl password, but when i changed it i was unable to conect via the smartcom. Could you suggest anything to try to change the password and keep things working.

Cheers Mick

Hi Mick

After changing any details like this, you will need to do a Connect Call to update the server.  You will not need to do anything with the new code though, just ignore it.  The Connect Call is just needed to update the server.

No problem.

From Engineers Mode, press 7 followed by Yes then 4 for Connect App? and press Yes.

From User Mode, Press Menu followed by Yes to access the User Menu.  Then scroll up a few times to Connect App? and press Yes.

When adding an IP camera, all details are entered and the 'connect camera' button is pressed. If the camera isn't working you can press the 'back' button to modify details. When this is pressed all the fields are blank and have to be re-entered. This also happens if the phone goes into 'sleep' whilst details are entered.

Hi Mick

Nothing on the notification side has changed.  I do believe though that if the App is in the foreground this will happen.

Hi Mike

Assuming that the Recipes also don't appear on the Timeline or Calendar, it will be a reporting code issue.

Please do the following, from the keypad...

Go into Engineer Utils and scroll up to Default NVM.  Press Yes and scroll up to Reporting Codes.  Press Yes to default the codes and the Recipes should start reporting out.

I had a mains failure today but it wasn't reported by the App.

Do I have to set it up manually?

Is an alarm state reported by the app as default?

John G.

Hi John

Currently, the App only shows Alarms and doesn't indicate lower level events i.e. Mains fails etc.

You may still receive a notification (depending on how the panel is programmed) but they will not appear on the Timeline or Calendar.

If you log into the App with the Engineer code, you will see 'all' events in the Calendar, but not on the Timeline.

Regards,

Mark.
