Has anyone tried to plant additional trees on their tract? What type
of tree? Was the planting successful?

As part of long-term habitat improvement, I am interested in any
information related to anyone trying to plant trees around the Ranch.

Please share your stories.
Thanks.

I am also very interested in this subject. Problem is watering trees
to get them established.

We're the Butler's! Raymond and I & own 87 & 88 and are greatly
interested in preserving the habitat and protecting wildlife.
Contact Mary Humphrey, the county biologist of the Texas Parks &
Wildlife Department. She is located in Sonora (325) 387-5539. Go to
the TPWD website (it;s great) and download form "Landowner request for
Technical Guidance". Complete it and mail to Mary at P.O. Box 281,
Sonora, Tx 76950. This form is necessary in order for Mary to make an
appointment and visit your ranch for an assessment. We found that the
endangered species "Black-capped Vireo" (a small songbird) has been
sighted in Crockett County. After our visit by Mary we found out we
have the probable habitat for the vireo. We now have been surveying
our ranch in hopes of seeing one nesting.
You'll also find lots of information on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
website.
