I was just wondering if anyone hunted last year and if they were
successful.
I shot a nice 9 point. We saw a good number of deer so that tells me
that the ranch as a whole is managing their properties well. Is there
any way to post pics or is this just for messages?
I also shot 2 goats out of 10 in the herd.
If we can't post pics on this, maybe we can move to a site that allows
us to.
I think it will help if someone has something for sale, or to show
property issues, tips, tricks, hunting photos etc..
Hope everyone gets on board with this site, it can be a very good
source of information
Talk to you later..

Our group as a whole from Wisconsin only made one trip this year to
the ranch. Lot 104,102,101,105,108,109,110 had the poorest year we
have had. We have only taken 3 deer in the 4 years that we have owned
land at the ranch along with one Javelina and a couple of Turkey. We
think that the drought might be one of the reasons or that some people
are shooting a lot of deer. We only have one water source on our
property, but the large ranch (Adams Ranch) has plenty of water. We
did not see many goats either, but we did shoot about 7 or 8 goats
over the last couple of years. We have also seen some auodad. We
were only having 2-4 deer coming to the feeders this year and stop
times 0 as opposed to 6-15 in the past. It is tough for us though as
we usually only come 1 or 2 times a year. We do have a friend fill
feeders for us though.
Curious as to what other people are seeing and harvesting? The deer
seem small to us as we are avid hunters in the midwest where body mass
is significantly larger. We sure enjoy the land and overall abundance
of wildlife.
It would be nice to be able to post pics.

We had a decent year. The deer and turkey were much better on average
than last year. Donna shot a very good buck and I harvested a few
does. I have to admit that I have year-round water and a good amount
of deer groceries on the property.

The only issue that we had over the last year was Feral Hogs. We had
to fence all of our feeders to keep them away. We shot two last year,
but I have seen trail camera pictures of groups of 10 and greater.

I think that we can post pics to this site either through the pages or
files options. I'll mess around with it and see what we can do.

We have never seen any Feral Hogs. I didn't know that we had them on our
ranch and have never heard anybody mention them to us. Have other neighbors
talked about them or seen them? Year round water might be the key,
especially with the drought. Do you ever see Javelina or any type of
exotics free range?
Pictures would be great to post!

I managed to make it down there once this past deer season. It was
the weekend after opening day and I managed to get a decent doe. My
co-owner Jimmy Balch also got a doe the same weekend. He went down
again 2 weeks later and got a larger doe. There are plenty of tracks
around our feeders and with no standing water on the land, I take that
as a good sign of the health of the population. Turkeys were pretty
abundant for the limited time I was down there. I, like Trent, have
never seen any feral hogs, nor any signs. My property butts up to the
fence along the large ranch to the east (is that the Adam's ranch?)
and at least gives a decent path for deer. We've had the land for
several years now and I've only hunted deer on it the last 2 years,
whereas, Jimmy has hunted each year and has never come back empty
handed. I've never hunted up north where deer are generally larger
for the same reason that I have never gone sea-fishing. I figure if I
catch/shoot something larger than I am used to, why would I want to go
back to the smaller sizes?!

Dean,

There is a good chance that you will see some hogs in the near
future. I posted a picture that is from an area near your property.
It is on the files page.
