Howdy y'all!

My name is Colleen (intense debate: meancolleen, /u/texasmeancolleen) and I was born, raised, and currently primarily reside in Houston, Texas. I'm an archaeologist who travels for work occasionally. Thank you for joining the group!

Please let me know if you have experience and/or would like to mod this group with me :)

Hi!  I'm Laurie (EnchiladaTaco).  Native San Antonian; live in midtown, lawyer.  I am glad to meet everyone, but still having the sads about why we are in diaspora.

Hi!

I'm Stephanie (telophase, /u/telophase-on-toast). I'm currently a librarian at TCU, but grew up in Bryan/College Station and went to school in San Antonio.

Hi! I'm Ashley. I moved to San Antonio from Kansas back in August for work. My heart is broken today, but my spirit will prevail.

I've spent all day today glumly rereading art history posts and listening to Carly Rae Jepsen on a loop.

I'm Jeanine, I'm really a New Mexican, but have lived in San Antonio for 5 years now.  I'm HistorianNina on the Toast and same thing on the new subreddit.  (Also, for anyone else in those communities, I lurk on Shakesville and Captain Awkward under the same name.)  Currently doing the stay-at-home parent thing, but my background is in archaeology and history!  Colleen, what kind of archaeology do you do?  I only rarely meet other archaeologists anymore!

Hi I'm Diana! @dianaalark basically everywhere else (Twitter, Instagram, slack) I was born in Grapevine, TX but grew up in Virginia and almost exactly a year ago I moved to Austin.
Yes, I'm one of those people.

Right now I work at UT in admin, maybe changing that later but for now just doing my thing. Before this in Virginia I did years of different non profit work and would love to go back!

I watch too much Netflix and already miss the Toast because it's hard to find sites with good content AND good communities . It's like a unicorn. A beautiful unicorn that gives life advice and gifs. A gificorn.

I'm Amy (evieskye on Toast/Reddit, amyofdoom everywhere else). From San Antonio originally (college/life in Grand Rapids & NYC) moved back to SA a few years ago. Librarian (of course).

I'm Catherine. I am beside myself about The Toast, y'all. Not Okay.

I was born outside of Houston, bounced between Dallas and rural Louisiana until adulthood, spent most of that in California, and moved back to the homeland about a year ago. Almost. I am at home with a toddler and a pretty debilitating chronic illness, and know basically no one here (with the lovely exception of RoseCamelia). My three best (well, really only) long distance, long-term friends have been having Major Life Stuff, so the last year or so, The Toast was the stand-in for essentially every person I left behind and all the friends I haven't gotten around to making. I know how it sounds but... seriously, The Toast was made for nerdy queer secretly hopeful introverts who still want proof that the world doesn't deserve a full-on nuclear winter.

Colleen, I have no experience with the software and don't know Google much at all, but I have pulled mod duty on forums for gaming, so I am not entirely inexperienced. Which is to say, if you're desperate and can't find anyone more experienced, I can lend a hand.

Hello all! I'm Rebecca, Beakses on intense debate and now u/beakses on reddit. I live in Austin and will be an officially licensed architect in June when they change the random bureaucracy rules but for the moment am a project manager at a small architecture firm. I am sad that we are losing the toast but happy that it appears to have encouraged this group to form!

Hi, I'm Kris. I live in Austin and absolutely knew there had to be other Toasties around although I never saw anything in the comments about Austin meetups. I'm a freelance copywriter (@atxcopywriter on Twitter), total introvert who gets exhausted if I spend more than 2 nights out a week (and sometimes when I don't) and have appreciated having what feels like a second friend group that doesn't require any social energy of me on the Toast. I have also really appreciated having a place to go to bounce random questions off a group of varied people with opinions I can trust and respectful ways of expressing them – invaluable when there doesn't happen to be a friend handy!

Hi everyone! I'm Brittney (/u/cupcakecity)... or Pom Pom (@pom_pom_puri), and I was lemontx on The Toast (but I rarely posted!).  I'm in Austin, TX currently- I graduate n-nnext week with my Master's of Education and I'm pretty overwhelmed by the outpouring of community on Twitter, Reddit and here! I have not been super active on Toast comments but I'm excited about all of these new communities.  I'm originally from Portland, OR and my cat is named Hamburglar (Hammy) (attached).

I'm excited to get to know everyone!!

Howdy as well, y'all. I'm dakimel on the Toast / twitter / instagram / ToastieSlack.

I live in Houston - currently off I-10 near Gessner/Beltway, soon off I-10 near Heights/Taylor. I worked in the Heights for ages but have been working from home (writing romance novels as Melanie Greene - Melanie is my real name, Greene isn't) for a few years. Some days the only interaction I had with the world (other than, like, my husband and sons) was on the Toast, so this is going to be a huge change for me. The site's sensibilities and the community there shaped my thinking in so many ways, and I will so miss the daily kaleidoscope of voices.

A few of us in Houston (and the lovely RoseCamelia - is she here?) meet up once in a while. If any of you non-Houstonians are ever headed this way and have time, let us know and we can arrange a meet up.

hiiii :)

i'm in the austin area. i was born in dallas, raised in lubbock, then moved to hot springs, arkansas for a year, where it became clear that i needed to be back in texas, but perhaps a nicer part of texas than lubbock. i've been in austin for, oh, five years now? time flies when you're not afraid meth addicts are going to rob your house.

i'm a fraud analyst for a search quality team at a tech company, a wannabe writer, not a librarian but a friend to librarians everywhere.

i'm always down for a meet-up in austin, but i'm also open to traveling to SA or houston. hell, i'd go to houston just for the chinese food.

Hey y'all! I've actually never used a google group before, so bear with me if I do something silly!

I'm Ashley. (fakegeekgrrrl on IntenseDebate and in the Reddit group). I moved to Austin at the very end of 2010 from Florida, where I grew up. I work at a credit union during the day. In my free time I write and edit for my pals' website, POMEgranate Magazine, and co-host a Sailor Moon Crystal podcast. I'm into reading books and comics and watching movies and TV and I don't really like being outside except for if there's swimming involved or if it's not too hot??? I have a cute and bratty dog named Lorelei and a just as cute but much less bratty husband. I'm a little shy getting to know people at first. :)

Willing to travel for meetups too, depending on how my money situation is looking that particular week.
