Hi,
If I remember right Kiloh previously said BOC was her favorite band (hence the poster), so I gotta ask: Was she on any BOC discussion boards when she was well? That fan base was pretty tight knit when I was posting on those boards back in the late ninties (AOL). Maybe folks on those boards knew her and are unaware of her situation? The band itself always had an interest in the circumstances of die-hard/close fans. Eric Bloom I am pretty sure is from that part of N.Y. (We come up to Poughkeepsie (sp?) once a year because we know Poughkeepsie is serious about rock and roll -ad lib from the album "Extraterrestrial Live")

OK, people have been kind enough to ask about how my old friend is
doing. This is the lady dying of ALS in a nursing home who we are
going to provide an MP3 player to. Look, my friend went to visit her
to assess the situation. She was SO HAPPY to see her old buddy (my
friend) that she couldn?t stop crying for joy.

The bad part is that she?s in terrible shape. She can?t talk above a
whisper, can?t use her fingers, can?t walk, you get the picture right?
Okaaaaaaay, she is incapable of using an MP3 player. What we are going
to do is burn her CD?s of MP3 files. My friend says that we can fit 10
CD?s on one disc as MP3. We get her a portable CD player, headphones
that fit over her ears, and she can rock out for a whole day on one
CD. It?s no drama; just have a Nurse load a disc for her and let her
rock out. My friend is a Systems Manager for a corporation and this is
the way he says we must go. It?s low tech but it fits her needs. We
will get her a CD wallet that holds dozens of discs and begin filling
that up.

My old friend is a total rocker she loves: Beatles, WHO, ?Stones,
Hendrix, Kinks, Pink Floyd, Cream, Clapton, Grateful Dead, ?Airplane,
Country Joe, Creedence, Moby Grape, Zappa, Byrds, Love, CSN&Y, Eagles,
Joe Walsh.

She has a special love for HEAVIER sounding music: Ten Years After,
Black Sabbath, (old) Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Blue
Cheer, etc?

This ALS is some terrible shit and (up until now) she has been facing
it alone. If you want to burn her a CD of your favorite artist/music
that would be cool. I would recommend that you keep each CD around a
certain theme or artist. Remember do it as MP3 and load the fucker up
so she can just rock out and not worry about changing discs.

We?re getting her a Blue Oyster Cult poster to put in her room.

If you want to burn discs email me and I will provide my friend?s
address. You can send them to him. If you want to get my old friend a
small gift, or card, you can email me and I will provide her address.
This type of thing will be the highlight of her day.

She?s a really, really cool and kind person. One time, at a Grateful
Dead concert, her husband (a biker) gave me money from his biker gang
to go buy LSD in the parking lot for them. I found the acid and bought
like sixty hits and ate some myself. Then I hung out with friends
before going back. By then, the acid had begun to hit me really hard
and I couldn?t find the car.

The concert started and I went in. I didn?t want to be carrying all
this acid around in case the cops stopped me after the show. So I gave
the rest of the acid away. My friend made her husband and his gang
wait for me until almost dawn. I never showed up; I found another
ride. Then I had to go back to them and tell them that: 1) I didn?t
have the acid 2) I didn?t have their money 3) I gave all the acid away
to strangers.

She smoothed it all over and allowed me to pay them back from my job
and, after a bit, it was forgotten. I met her ex-husband on Facebook
again and reminded him of that story and he laughed his ass off!

Anyway, Anne is a real class person. This really sucks.
