CNN Roky Interview

Cool CNN video with current interview bits from Roky. I must say that Roky's voice is gone and he's still an amazing vocalist. He's morphed into this kind of gruff growl from the Acid Elf with the keening voice. It works for him. And he has such a PRESENCE on the stage; the guy is truly a living legend. In concert, you're just glad to be there.

Ten years ago, Roky was living in a rented room, above a porn store, off the highway. His only source of income was Social Security Disability. His room was filled with TVs, radios, CB radios, amps, etc, etc... All turned "on" and tuned to different stations. Roky got on junk mail lists and then too all the junk mail and covered his walls with it. He was too crazy to play music because he was afraid of crowds. It was a sorry situation.

The Roky CD Club, fronted by my group, produced and distributed bootleg CDs and collected $2.00 donation for Roky for each disc. This put much needed cash into Roky's hands. His attorney (another fan, working for free) took the Roky CD Club Money and doled it out to Roky for money for cheeseburgers and cigarettes. Nobody thought Roky would EVER come back, much less live too much longer. I have letters from Mrs Erickson thanking me for keeping her son's name alive.

So... to have Roky now (again) a world famous, world touring, Rock Star is amazing and gratifying. Roky is married to his high school sweetheart - Dana. He lives in a nice home that he 100% paid for himself. And it couldn't have happened to a more deserving artist and person.
