OER Colleagues:

The second statewide Open Educational Resources survey recently opened and was sent to CAOs and CIOs at all Texas public postsecondary and health-related institutions, as well as to the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas to disseminate to its members. The survey, which has been developed by DigiTex in partnership with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), is part of an effort to learn more about OER practices and policies at higher education institutions in our state.

This survey was first administered in 2019. With 100 institutions responding, it showed a growing commitment to OER, with 38% of institutions having initiatives in place to support OER, and 51% in the process of or planning on implementing OER programs or policies in the future. The final 2019 report can be accessed here. The 2021 survey will build on the knowledge gained from the 2019 survey to track the growth of OER work in the state and inform future initiatives. We plan to disseminate the final 2021 landscape analysis report by early fall.

**If you are involved in OER efforts on your campus, please touch base, if you haven't already, with your institution's CAO/CIO about the survey. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring a high return rate in order to be able to develop the landscape analysis for which the survey provides essential data.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best,

Judith Sebesta, Ph.D., Executive Director,
Digital Higher Education Consortium of Texas (DigiTex)
