*************************

Informed by institutional, state, and national leaders, a new report, Toward Convergence: Creating Clarity to Drive More Consistency in Understanding the Benefits and Costs of OER will be released from the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) on April 13. The report describes six principles to help define efforts to identify savings and returns from OER investments and offers two frameworks for making those calculations. Throughout the report, there are examples and artifacts of how others are approaching these determinations. Its guidance equips policymakers and other officials as well as advocates to communicate the full benefit of OER in a clear and accurate way. This work is a part of the National Consortium for Open Educational Resources (NCOER) which is a partnership between the regional compacts including MHEC, the New England Board of Higher Education, the Southern Regional Education Board, and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. A webinar introducing the report will be hosted on April 13 at 1 p.m. CT; to register go to https://bit.ly/towardconvergence.
