Career and Technical Education (CTE) refers to education that combines academic and technical skills with the knowledge and training needed to succeed in today’s labor market. According to both the Association for Career & Technical Education and the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics, nearly 60 percent of college students are involved in CTE programs. Open Education Resources can support equitable and affordable access to these often high-demand workforce courses and programs.
This webinar will provide an overview of where to find existing open resources to support CTE and then take a deeper dive into the use of OER by two faculty members, one teaching machine tool tech technology and the other physical science, both at community colleges. Attendees will learn how to explore open education at their own institutions and be invited to share their own experiences and aspirations using, adapting, developing, and sharing OER for CTE.

Teryk Morris, Machine Tool Technology Instructor, Linn-Benton Community College, Oregon
