Hi TXCINC Friends,
If you are going to be at TCEA’s conference next month and are open to sharing information on Green Ribbon Schools please let me know.
Below is information on the Healthivore℠ student online game development contest around nutrition/fitness themes, which will be announced the week of Feb. 6th at the TCEA conference.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Steve st...@4cw3.org 512-322-9323
In the fall, we teamed with Pflugerville ISD, the AMD Foundation, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Connally High School students mentored kids at Westview Middle School and 5th graders at Copperfield Elementary, during their 21st Century after-school program on video game design. The games focused on “nutrition/fitness” themes.
Students published their games on the Green Ribbon Schools’ site. Plus, the kids were able to “tell their stories” behind the games, including photos and they could have shared videos. Vital as we support kids in “thinking” and then “acting”, as they learn to make healthy nutrition and fitness decisions. Please see the links below to the games the students created.
What is next?
Well, that learning from the first phase was translated to a tool kit for any teacher/student to access to help them implement game development. PLUS, at the TCEA conference we’ll launch a national contest where teams of students can win lap top computers powered by AMD! We will not officially launch the program until the week of February 6th. At that time we’ll include a link to the game development info and contest from the GRS home page.
