Over the past few months TCiN has been working hard to give the Nature Rocks Texas websites a whole new look and improve functionality.  All the websites are up and running as of the first of the year and I invite you to check them out in your region.

Nature Rocks Texas is designed for families to be able to connect with all the nature-based activities, events and programs in a region, as well as all the parks, zoos, nature centers and green space.  We want families to know they have options for structured learning in programs and access to nature near them for unstructured play. The tag line is- Find Nature Near You.  And that is exactly what we want families to feel like they can do.  Local parks are the spaces many people build their curiosity and confidence to have larger outdoor experiences such as over night camping at state or national parks that might be slightly further away.

We are still getting our partners logged back into the site to start loading their events.  In the mean time all the TPWD programs and activities are automatically fed into the site.  Admittedly the feed is not perfect and if you are at a state parks and would like to better manage the way your programs appear on the site, please create an account, watch the short "how to" videos and start updating your events. http://texaschildreninnature.org/nature-rocks-texas

We also invite you to recommend Nature Rocks Texas to families in your programs who might be looking for more experiences in nature in their communities.  Remember- no one agency or NGO can offer all the programs or experiences needed to adequately reconnect children and families with nature.  We are all in this together and Nature Rocks Texas is just one of the many tools available to help kids and families find nature in their own communities.

Please visit the websites, see what you think and consider how you want to use the sites in your work, volunteer or personal life.
