to Texas Archivematica Users Group
Hi all --

I wanted to try an idea that we discussed at our in-person meeting at TCDL in May, and kick off a thread for members to post updates on their progress with Archivematica!

At the University of Houston, we are busily working on a TexTreasures grant-funded project to digitize a couple of public broadcasting TV programs on Texas politics from the 80s and 90s, and we are preparing packages for those large preservation master video files to begin to ingest them to AM storage by the August 31 deadline.

Also, our major work over the past month or so was formalizing a "Technical Recommendations on Preservation Strategy" document, which describes the structure, contents, naming conventions, and metadata requirements for packages submitted to Archivematica for different types of digitized content. A major goal of this documentation is to facilitate the integration of API calls to ArchivesSpace early in the digitization workflow, to automatically pull descriptive metadata that will be placed in our SIPs and sent to the Metadata Unit with the access JPEGs for further enhancement. We'll be finalizing that document in the next week or so, and I can share a copy in the Configuration and Workflow Documentation folder in the TX Archivematica Users Group drive. (and on that note, if you have any digital preservation documentation from your institution to share, please feel free to do so!)

We would love to hear from you about what you've been working on with Archivematica lately! If you have interesting projects, success stories, or road blocks/questions to share, please post your updates in this thread.

Thanks!

Bethany
