Texas Archivematica Users Group (A-TEX)
The A-TEX steering committee held a meeting this week and discussed the following:
·
We are planning an online meeting/webinar,
probably for early November, in which we would like to discuss our Archivematica
workflows or digital preservation actions related to workflows. We would
encourage all to attend and/or participate! Details TBA.
·
We discussed having an Artefactual
representative on the webinar, but are leaning towards inviting Artefactual to
attend virtually for TCDL and ourselves managing the webinar and its content.
Any thoughts on this matter?
· Initial ideas/topics for the webinar include:
o compare & contrast different institutions’ uses of Archivematica
o content types and if/how content is stored differently by type
o how to create SIPs, perhaps for different purposes
o various tabs in Archivematica – e.g. Backlog, Appraisal, Preservation planning, etc.
o documentation/templates to share as takeaways
·
Is there interest in using an A-TEX listserv in
place of or in addition to the Google Group page?
·
There is a bi-monthly Archivematica Users Forum
that anyone interested in Archivematica can attend. There was one last week and
the next is to be held November 7th at 11:00 am (Central) - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bZzSi5nsNDpiN2oqTKpUIEhc6b_gxkmuT8r4bsjdZO0/edit#
·
Also, there will be an Archivematica Con held at
the Brooklyn Historical Society, April 15-17, 2020 in Brooklyn, NY. - https://wiki.archivematica.org/Community/Camps/Brooklyn2020
in case you are interested. The Steering Committee expects to have at least one
representative attend (Sean Buckner, Texas A&M, is planning to attend).
·
Next official Steering Committee meeting is
scheduled for early December (post webinar). A-TEX Steering Committee consists
of Bethany Scott (UH), Courtney Mumma (TDL), Sean Buckner (TAMU), Julianna
Barrera-Gomez (UTSA), and Laura Waugh (TX State). Feel free to contact any one
or all of us with questions or comments.
