to Texas Archivematica Users Group
Hi everyone,

Here's a summary of the discussion in last week's Texas Archivematica Users Group steering committee meeting.
  • We discussed the frequency and location of in-person meetings of the group. Based on the example of the UK Archivematica group, we will aim for 2-3 in-person meetings per year. We have reserved a timeslot for a TCDL post-conference meeting on Thursday, May 25, from 1-4 pm. We plan to invite a representative from Artefactual. Ideas for the content of the meeting include development updates or demos from Artefactual, updates on Archivematica implementation at UH and A&M (and other institutions), informal discussion and Q&A. We will send out a call for discussion topics and informal presentations/discussions in late March.
  • We plan to report out the activity of the steering committee and our monthly conference calls to the group. This is the first of those reports!
  • We established the purpose of this google group: sharing presentations, documentation, diagrams, etc. regarding digital preservation; sharing progress updates on digital preservation programs at your institutions (perhaps monthly, as in the Hydra user community); organizing in-person meetings. We recognize that technical questions and troubleshooting Archivematica is best handled in the larger Archivematica google group.
  • We also established a public google drive for sharing documentation. One of the first documents we will be creating is a membership list with contact info for members of this group.
  • We are currently developing a purpose statement for the group and criteria for membership to be shared soon.

Thanks,

Bethany
