Hello,
We finally have our test instance of Archivmatic up and are testing it now. Do you have any suggestions for things I should test or check to make sure they are working before I let IT move it to production?
I can do a standard transfer and ingest. What else do I need to test? Thanks for the input.

Hi Susan,

I'd suggest testing the processing configuration that you plan to use in production, if possible. So if you have already outlined the type of materials that you will be ingesting and the microservices/preservation actions that you will be running all the time, you can set those up as the processing configuration under the Administration tab. As an example, at UH we are primarily dealing with digitized files that were either created in-house or by a trusted vendor, and as such we have determined which file formats we consider to be preservation-quality -- so we don't need to do any normalization. That's one of the settings in our processing configuration.

Also, if you can create a test set of files that are representative of the content you plan to send to preservation (particularly different file formats such as images, AV, born-digital collections, etc) it might be helpful to test those different types of content too, both to make sure that you're able to ingest them without errors, and also to take a look at the final stored packages, to make sure that the contents of the package and the METS file are matching up with your expectations.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss in more detail, please let me know!

Bethany
