May 9 was the deadline for House bills to pass House committees. Those
bills that did not get out of committee are now dead.
HB 998, which would have required insurance for intact male dogs over
a certain weight, is now dead. We were watching this bill in
particular, because it could have been easily modified to be breed-
specific.
Some other animal-related bills passed the committee stage and are
still making their way through the legislature. Some of these bills
are great, and some are not great. None are breed-specific at this
time, so StopBSL takes no official position on them. However, you may
wish to express your opinions about these bills to your legislator--
and I do encourage you to remain engaged in the legislative process
regarding these animal-related bills, even if they are not breed-
specific.
Thanks as always for your support and concern! If you have any
