HiI know this question has been asked many times, but many are unanswered. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, Window 7 64 bit. Just yesterday, my laptop kept blacking out, freezes and then unfreeze and this message would pop up saying, "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered." It keeps happening around every 15-30 minutes. Sometimes, it totally blacks out. Other times, it unfreeze but the windows are blank. Someone please help me. The display adapter I have is Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family." Some people said online to update it and that might fix the problem. I went to the Intel website and updated the lastest one given, but the problem is still here. I've restored my laptop to a certain restore point, but still did not solve the problem. Suggestions and ideas? Thank you a head of time.

Everytime I play tf2 which is a steam game the display driver constantly crashes so I have to exit the game and open it up again. It also happens when I play the game and have another tab open like a word document or google. Could you tell me how to fix it pls? asap

@Michael: Thanks for the info. According to the DxDiag, your system does not recognize the Intel Graphics driver. You should contact your OEM and verify whether you have a switchable-graphics supported system or not. You can also try uninstalling the drivers for your add-on card, and see if the game functions properly just using the onboard graphics.

@Bryan Lee: It looks like you have the wrong driver installed. It's displaying your graphics controller as "HD Graphics Family" when it should be "HD Graphics 3000". Here's a link to our latest driver, give it a try and let me know how it goes. _Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22628&lang=eng Download Center

Nic, you seem to be the go to man with these problems. I have a Toshiba Satellite L655-S5150 64-bit Windows 7. While playing The Sims 3, my screen goes black and flashes. If I minimize the game then I just get the message about the driver crashing. If I do not minimize the game then it just freezes. This only started happening a few days ago and I have no clue why. I have not included any software recently. My dxdiag is as follows:

@Michael Hasworth: The issue you are experiencing with FireFox* is supposed to be resolved by Mozilla* if it has not already. Make sure your browser is fully updated. Are you also experiencing the driver crash message, or just the FireFox* issue?

yes, Firefox is up to date. What happens is the display driver keeps resetting (blank screen, desktop, blank screen etc..) about 10 times then computer freezes & must be turned off. If other programs trigger this, the same type of crash happens. No error message given by Firefox, but it simply doesn't load the page.

I went to that page but the Intel Graphic Drivers were out of date, I installed them anyway and the problem persists. I believe my hardware is malfunctioning because when the screen goes white or green before blacking out shaking the laptop will sometimes stop it. Was I supposed to download a different driver? It seems to happen the most in the middle of a video or a few seconds after opening a game. EDIT: Also it now seems to reset my PC without me doing anything. Could Windows be the problem? EDIT 2: Windows just showed a blue screen and has fully crashed. Please Help!

@Reuben-Molina: By your description, where physical interaction with the display resolves in a restored picture, that most definitely sounds hardware related. As are your random-restarts. You should contact your OEM for support on your system. The driver page I pointed you at was the latest released by your OEM, because I wanted to make sure that you were not on a system that required an OEM driver (sometimes OEM systems are unable to use our drivers due to how the OEM customized/configured them).

Hey there nic,i see you help many people with advices,i need your help too please, from 2-3 months ago i have this problem,Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows Vista(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered, actually i use windows 7 and this display driver killed me...

Hi Jrg,

Sorry for that.

What can sometimes happen after an update, is that the hardware may also need some new driver information. I would go here to confirm your product ID, and install any updates before rebooting and testing GoToMeeting broadcast capabilities again: =drivers

Recently when using GoToMeeting to share my screen with someone in a different location, my computer became VERY slow. It was like the CPU was being HEAVILY loaded but the task manager didn't indicate that. As soon as I finished the GoToMeeting session, my computer's performance became normal again. The problem has happened 3 times recently, and that interfered with my ability to do my job using GoToMeeting, to the extent that my manager is saying consider alternative options. I need to find some kind of solution.

Hi Andrew,

It is entirely possible that your graphics card there cannot account for both GoToMeeting's screen capture methods and the external monitor attached to your Surface Pro. I would test further without the monitor, as well as checking with the manufacturer's website for any available video drivers you can update.

From our experience, it's not the driver. It's a combination of CPU and video (GPU). All our laptops have 2 core / 4 thread i5 or i7 (atleast 6th gen or higher) with built-in intel video and they suffer when doing desktop sharing. The laptops with i7 quad core and dicrete videos do not have any issues screen sharing.

You answered your own question - the crux of installing Win9x of any "modern" MoBo is the Drivers, particularly the Chipset ones which are essential. I don't believe a G45 will function and am unsure of the G3x-series (maybe some of them). So, yes, there -will-be an upper-end (particularly for the Mobo).

Again, browse around, expecially the "Sticky" topics (clearly listed at the top of the 9x/ME SubForum). Most, if not all, of your questions will be answered therein, including "unofficial" fixes, workarounds, etc.

There is an unofficial driver for ICH 10 chipsets on You also could read here "Slipstreamable" Intel Chipset INF Drivers" (ICH 7/8/9). ICH 8/9/10 motherboards aren' t or are hardly tested on 98/ME! I'm very interested. Currently I am checking a MSI P43 board. I'll post my results. If you buy one, it is to test. Be aware, that probably many of those boards make problems or are unusable on 98/ME. There are no drivers for onboard sound, too. You have to use PCI cards.

I just bought a new Intel system that doesn't even have XP Drivers available for it. So far I have gotten the Hard Drive and USB 2 Subsystems working. My Multi-Core API is not working yet. There is no 1394 Hardware on this Motherboard.

hmm.. maybe i should find one of these;) appears to have Win98se drivers too! dissappointing that it only has 10/100 networking built in.. that might be a deal breaker.. The asus board has gigabit ethernet..

i have contacted some people selling some of these boards on ebay and asked if they support intel core 2 chips and they responded "no" so im wondering if this is an error on the gigabyte website... can anyone confirm?

There's an issue where there appears to be a 768 MB limit. At least confirmed with the swap file. Setting the virtual memory to more than 768 MB results in a false "Insufficient memory to initialize Windows" (or similar) error message. Possibly applies to RAM amount, too.

So I'm planning to build a Windows 98 PC, and for the graphics card, I have an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro from 2005. My question is, will it work with Windows 98? Also, the driver CD got lost somewhere (if you're wondering, the graphics card is in its original box), so are there any drivers online I can download and put onto the PC?

Furthermore, I'm missing a CPU, motherboard and a case to go with it, so maybe you guys know the best combination for this graphics card?

(Sorry if you're getting confused by some parts of my post, my English kinda sucks.)

Oh, thanks for letting me know. What about the motherboard and CPU? which combination will work best?

Also, on the AMD site for the graphics card, it says this:

Note:As of January 1, 2004, Microsoft no longer accepted certification submissions for the Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition operating system. The ATI Catalyst CREW however is committed to all its customers and is now providing non certified WHQL software drivers for users of the Windows Millennium Edition operating system. Windows Millennium Edition users can obtain the software driver at: Windows 98/98SE is supported through the ME driver.

If I understand it correct, the Windows Me driver will work fine on Windows 98 if I install it on there. Is that true?
