So Michael Souffront and I each made our own intro to Tethys Platform videos as part of a web development class (IS 542) here at BYU last winter. Just yesterday, one guy commented on both of our videos. He said that a few others videos showing some specific things (such as how to implement Gizmos and why controllers are needed) might be helpful. I thought Nathan, Scott, or Alan might have made some simple walk-through videos on those topics, but it looks like (based on a "Tethys Platform" YouTube search) that they haven't. I wonder if it would actually be worth it to make a video series or something that builds a simple app from the ground up and can go into a bit of detail about each step along the way. What are people's thoughts?

Here are the links to the videos that the guy watched / commented on.

Nathan made a series of videos for NFIE last year. They are hosted on the Tethys Documentation: http://docs.tethysplatform.org/en/latest/tutorials/video_tutorials.html. They may be a little out of date and cover more advanced concepts than what was being requested, but it's what we have.

As far as making a new series of videos, I think it would be great, but it takes a lot of time, and I don't know who/when the resources would be available to tackle that project.

The video tutorials are certainly easier to make initially, but they are harder to maintain and keep up-to-date. I'm actually working on a quick text tutorial based on the GeoServer video tutorial. I've also reviewed the Getting Started tutorial and made a few minor changes to make it consistent with the 1.4.0 version of Tethys Platform. I pushed those changes to both dev and the release-candidate-140-1 branches.
