The Delta Center for the Arts is Delta College's centerpiece of artistic development and creative expression. On the stages of our two performance venues, Warren Atherton Auditorium and The Tillie Lewis Theatre, our students perform an eclectic selection of theatre, music, and dance. When our students aren't center stage, Atherton is humming with sounds from the Stockton Symphony. The walls of the contemporary Horton Art Gallery host six annual exhibitions, displaying the creative works of our faculty, students, and visiting artists.

Hop in our crop-duster and experience the Arkansas Delta from the sky. The Delta is a landscape of meandering rivers on a vast alluvial plain. Most of the natural bottomland forests have been converted into rice, soybeans, cotton, and catfish culture.

You will learn the value of the wetlands and the wildlife who call it home. The wetlands provide a natural flood control, a nursery for fish and shellfish, an area to purify, and filter groundwater, food and habitat for numerous species of wildlife, and also provide recreational opportunities such as boating, duck hunting, and fishing.

This is the main trail that is paved and ADA accessible. This trail begins at the Birds of Prey Exhibit and wildflower prairie. This open area hosts a lot of native wildflowers and grasses and represents what is known as the Grand Prairie of Arkansas. Tallgrass prairies thrived in the Delta before land was cleared for rice production in the early 20th century. You will be able to see flowers blooming from early spring to late summer, and many insects and birds feeding from these plants.

Shortly after the wildflower prairie you will enter to a bottomland hardwood forest. This type of forest is found along the edge of the Mississippi River Delta, and is subject to frequent flooding. You will be able to spot a tall cottonwood tree among the oaks, sycamores, and pecan trees. You also can appreciate the wetland areas formed by the bayou and lakes.

Come out to view and observe live Birds of Prey native to Arkansas, including eagles, owls and hawks. From the back porch, you can see our two ponds which host an American Alligator and various Arkansas native turtles. In our outdoor Aquarium, you can meet the fishes and other aquatic animals found from the oxbows to the fast-flowing current areas of the Arkansas River System.

The 3D Archery Range offers archers a chance to practice shooting from various distances, tucked under a canopy of Cottonwood and Sugarberry trees. The range has 20 targets varying in sizes from small game to large game. Please check in and out at the front desk of the Nature Center.

The Delta Rivers Nature Center offers recreational and educational classes for people of all grade levels. Along with regular daily, weekly and monthly events, the center offers specialized activities suitable for any nature enthusiast.

Students will have an up close and in-personal experience with live animals or biofacts to learn about native Arkansas wildlife! Animal presentations include snakes, birds of prey, fish and pollinators. (45 minutes)

We have the perfect space for your group to complete an onsite dissection! You simply need to book a date, order the preserved animals to be sent to us, and then show up for your class. Typical lab dissection include fish or frogs.

Have you ever wanted to try hunting or harvest your own food? The Outdoor Skills Network is your one-stop resource for events offered by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and a network of partners who conduct opportunities to engage your outdoor skills in hunting, fishing, trapping, safety, wildlife, marksmanship, and more!

The Delta Rivers Nature Center offers a volunteer training program for people interested in assisting or presenting educational programs to school groups. Come and enjoy working with children and teach them about nature.

The Delta Agricultural Weather Center is located at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, Mississippi. The Center is a joint effort between the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and the Mississippi State University Extension Service. The purpose of this Center is to provide historical and up-to-date weather data and products to aid farmers in making agricultural decisions.

On March 31, 1996, the National Weather Service located at Stoneville, closed its doors. Through volunteer efforts, weather data collection continued as it had since 1915 so there would be no gap in historical data.

It was soon apparent there was a need for public access to weather data and a Federal Extension grant was secured to fund a central weather project. This grant allowed the Delta Agricultural Weather Center to become fully operational in May 1998. The Center began operation with three on-farm sites recording weather information daily. Other sites were added and continued to be added throughout the entire Delta region.

The Center currently has 41 fixed weather stations and various seasonal variety trail mobile stations. The automated weather stations measure precipitation, temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, solar radiation, and soil temperature at various depths. Real time weather data is available every 15 minutes. All other parameters can be found on an hourly and a twenty-four-hour basis.

Data and tools are available on the website, deltaweather.extension.msstate.edu. The site includes current daily weather information, historical weather information, DD50 and DD60, planting date information for cotton, corn, rice, and soybeans, and pond temperature predictions as well as other tools.

Delta Educational Opportunity Center (DEOC) is a participant-focused center of excellence that serves as an invaluable resource for underrepresented and disconnected populations. We seek to empower families in the Mississippi Delta who have continually suffered generational oppression for lack of knowledge. We are advocates for change who actively bridge the gap between dreams and achievements. DEOC cultivates hope where despair once lived and ruled. We share. We connect. We learn. We grow. We change lives.

The mission of the Delta Educational Opportunity Center is to increase the awareness of postsecondary educational opportunities available to low-income and economically-disadvantaged adults, 19 and older, who desire to pursue a postsecondary education and to assist with postsecondary institution enrollment. DEOC further seeks to provide like services to current high school students and others under the age of 19 who cannot be adequately served by Talent Search, another federal TRIO program. Our vision is to become the networking hub for all Delta area Adult Basic Education programs and colleges/universities for increased enrollment in postsecondary institutions. DEOC does not represent any one college but represents and advocates for the participant with all colleges and universities.

For FY 2020, there were 139 EOCs funded in the U.S. at $54,926,989 serving 192,530 participants. The program provides counseling and information on college admissions to qualified adults who want to enter or continue a program of postsecondary education. The program also provides services to improve the financial and economic literacy of participants. An important objective of the program is to counsel participants on financial aid options, including basic financial planning skills, and to assist in the application process.

ACT PREP workshops are offered to high school students and adult learners. These workshops equip participants with the tools needed to increase their scores through interactive instruction in Science, Math, Reading, and English instruction.
