Questions seeking product, service, or learning material recommendations are off-topic because they tend to become obsolete quickly. Instead, describe your situation and the specific problem you're trying to solve. Here are a few suggestions on how to properly ask this type of question.

What free software is there for connecting to a Nokia phone? Nokia recently "upgraded" their PC Suite with a music manager that isn't compatible with my phone, and frankly, PC Suite sucks so much that I'd be happy not to use it.

Most Nokia phones these days have USB connectivity. You could always just plug it in as a 'Mass Storage Device" and load songs on it that way. eHow has a guide to How to Sync Music to an MP3 Player Using Windows Media Player which should be able to be used with your phone.

Why dont you access the phone using USB mode. When you use the USB mode the computer treats the memory as a removable memory (Like a flash drive). You can simply copy the music files and play with the player after disconnecting the USB connection. Personally I like this method to avoid the unnecessary problems with that nokia pc suite. The latest version's music manager sucks.. :(

I really don't like their software. (I am sorry if you agree with me). All of the Nokia on Windows (PC Suite, Music Manager, Ovi Suite and Ovi Suite 2) are failed to manage music very well with my player.

If you never put your music in phone's memory but on a MicroSD card, and if you like Foobar2000. You can do what I do.(You can use connect your phone in "Mass storage mode" but it is a quite slower in my exp.)

Hi there.
I am a Danish music lover who has an old netbook - a Nokia Booklet 3g ATOM CPU, 1gb ram - that I tried to run Windows 10 on. It worked but it was quite slow. Now I wonder if I can use it in my kitchen as a music player into Little British Monitors (LBM). For this Volumio may be just what I need (fingers crossed).

I have spent quite a while on Pink Fish Media and a few other hifi fora. I have been streaming music since Philips introduced their small MP3 streamer, later i turned to Squeezebox Classic and Touch. In the past few years I have streamed to a home built CAPS music player with a Paul Pang USB card in it. This card has had a malfunction so I started looking for alternatives and I realized that Volumio may just be what I needed - first for my old netbook but later - perhaps - for a RPI, Allo Digione / USBbridge set-up. Interesting times lie ahead.

Music on the Move
With the new Nokia Music Player you can take your favorite music with you wherever you go. Featuring a built-in FM radio, a digital music player and functioning at the same time as a hands-free headset, the Music Player is the perfect companion to the Nokia 3310, 3330, 8210, 8850 and 8890 mobile phones.

MP-Freedom
The Nokia Music player comes with a 32 MB removable memory card on which you can store and play up to one hour of AAC or MP3 music files. Encoding your CDs into high-quality AAC format is a breeze thanks to the easy-to-use Nokia Audio Manager software included with the Music Player. Just download your files to the unit with the supplied USB cable youre ready to rock and roll.

When youre out in the big wide world, the Music Players built-in display will help you keep track of what youre listening to by showing the available track information, or the channel of the radio station youre tuned into. And if you dont feel like carrying your phone with you, you can still get rhythm - the Music Player is self-powered by a single AAA battery, so you can use it with or without your Nokia mobile phone.

Hands-free Headset
The Nokia Music Player also offers a convenient way to make and receive calls. It functions as a hands-free headset so you can answer calls without even touching your phone. And thanks to the built-in microphone, you can use the voice-dialing feature of your phone to just speak the name of the person you want to call while your phone stays in your pocket! And if youre in the middle of your favorite song when you take the call, dont worry - the Music Player will automatically pause the song, and resume again when you hang up.

I've been having a lot of troubles wjth this too after updating my Phone (S10 5G) and started going through every possible setting to find out what to do ti fix it. Everything on this current thread had no help so I went back to looking.

The feature you describe was on by default when I checked. I turned it off and restarted, then tried playing music to verify (no controls present on lock screen). Then I turned it back on and restarted the phone with the same result.

However, I noticed when I swiped on my lock screen in a different way, the voice recorder widget appeared (which was a separate issue or so I thought because it kept doing this randomly). From there I went into the Lock Screen > Widgets menu, and turned ON the "Music" widget. Previously I had assumed that this was for Samsung's internal music player app only, which could be why it was turned off. It also may have been turned off by default upon upgrading to Android 12.

Turning on this widget allowed the Spotify widget/notification with playback controls to appear on the lock screen when music is playing, and for a short time after pausing a track. I am not sure if this is correct functionality (which is why I am hesitant to mark this as a solution), but it seems to at least be a workaround for my issue.

I experienced this problem after a recent update. I found that my notifications were turned off for Spotify. I solved the problem by going to Settings - Apps - Spotify - Notifications and then toggled Show notifications to on. I also selected delivery quietly. Perhaps having notifications turned off was preventing the music widget from appearing on the Lock Screen. This fixed it immediately.

If the issue persists, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. This will help us investigate further.

Video is attached to the OP. Note that screen recordings are not possible due to the phone being locked (screen recorder automatically stops recording when phone is locked). The video was also taken *after* a clean reinstall.

The video is low quality, but should get the point across. You can see me play a song on Spotify, open the notification bar to see that the song is playing and has the controls, then I lock the phone. When I turn the screen on, observe no Spotify notification and no playback controls.

There are other things we can check here. When Spotify is playing, swipe down from the top when your phone is unlocked > Swipe down again on the Spotify media controls and tap on Media Output > Press 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Make sure "Use while the phone is locked" is toggled on.

Tried the above proposed solution, but I don't see the Spotify media control on my unlocked phone (cf "swipe down from the top when your phone is unlocked > Swipe down again on the Spotify media controls and tap on Media Output")

I'm having the exact same issue post-update. Everything the same except that I did have the Music widget "on". None of these workarounds have worked for me yet. Have restarted the phone and tried going through Spotify directly. Followed all troubleshooting I could find about lockscreen displays - no luck so far!

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use these steps for a clean reinstall? They are more thorough than a regular one. That way you can make sure the cache is not causing this issue.

If the issue persists, would you mind turning the Music widget option off, restarting your phone and turning it on again to see if it makes any difference? This will help us have a better look at the issue.
