OnOne don't mention problems on their site, however it would save us all time if we could be informed on their support site.
It was only because I googled the the problem I found similar users on the FB site with same problem.

I have tried to install PS8.0 again. I was able to open my own files but trying to open one of the demo files I got the error number 1002 + the message it couldn't open the *.psd file (the file was a jpg).

Well, no word from OnOne. The product has been pretty good. But I'm very disappointed at the lack of support. There's no way to register the problem on their site, no way at all to get their attention to the problem.

Thanks for hanging with us during this frustrating time. We deeply regret the interruption in your work and look forward to providing a permanent solution. Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

You go to their support site and fill in the form.
I have got a reply within 24 hours and they are sorry about the error and work hard to fix it.
We all make mistakes but the problem here is that you can't use the old version 8.0 too even you install it.
I have a Windows platform too and can use the Windows version if needed.

woodysan,

Would you rather I do like most of the other sites and magazines out there and not tell you the reality of how I make money on my blog?

Would you prefer that I charge a subscription fee for the content?

For 5 years this blog was run by me working from 10:00 PM - 4:00 AM+ Sun - Thurs, so yes I do get compensated for my effort. However, I try to be honest about it and guess what if you buy elsewhere someone else will get the commission, but the fact is someone is always getting a commission for your online purchases so welcome to the reality of the Internet.

Guess what, magazines make money off advertising too! Except for a few short trial periods, I've not allowed advertising on my blog and have given it away free to select partners for products that I believe in.

On a separate note, this wasn't a full review - it was a short article about my thoughts of this product after it was released. I do hope to do a larger review of 8.5 very soon.

Not a comment on this. I appreciate your honesty. I have also learned to love Perfect Photo through your tutorials.
One question: is there any way to rotate images in PP? I am finding it very frustrating that I have to go out of PP and into Lightroom or Photoshop to straighten up an image.

Dear Ron,
Thanks for your rapid response. I had looked at the Transform tool but, stupidly, not noticed the rotate 'button'. In my defence, I had searched all through the Perfect Photo site for 'rotate' without getting any answer...
I wish they had Photoshop's incremental rotate, whereby you can set it to a level. But, mustn't complain, this is a great programme which will certainly give Photoshop/Lightroom a run for their money. It's not a replacement, just a very capable addition to the photo-editing stable.

onOne Software has always offered some of the most fun Photoshop tools that produce outstanding results, making it difficult to find fault with any new version, and Perfect Photo Suite 9 Premium is no exception. onOne has incorporated their most popular tools into an easily navigable suite. By not only improving performance, but also adding even more user-friendly features for the tasks photographers do most, onOne shows us that it's now a more portable world with more control over your images no matter where you are.

Without question, the first thing that jumps out is the blazing speed of image previews, and you can also see more accurately than in previous versions what you're going to get. The common-sense interface helps improve workflow too, because recognizing the function is simply based on the control's familiar icon, using standard indicators. Perfect Photo Suite 9 isn't just about correcting your photos, it's also about improving them: creative changes to produce what the mind's eye might see in a way that takes images and design elements to new levels.

The standout feature (among many) would have to be the updated masking tool. Just outline your object, and you can easily eliminate the background in less time and with less fine-tuning than any other product of this kind.

Another very successful HDR Concert has been published. A very special thank you goes out to Jason Ruth for allowing us to post process his brackets. It was a great set of brackets for us to lay our hands on.

I really enjoy Concerts like this that spread over multiple continents. Whether you are drinking your morning coffee or settling down after the sunsets with your night cap. I implore you to enjoy the photos and post processing information provided by all of the great HDRtists that contributed to HDR Concert #11!

I am a novice photographer that is learning how to use Photomatix, Photoshop, Lightroom, onOne, and other software programs. I am a member of a local photography meet-up group and try and shoot at least two days per week. My goal is to one day get my pictures published.

Started with digital photography eight years ago, a few months before my oldest daughter was born. Macro, lansdcape, abstract, and HDR photography are particular interests. I shoot with a Canon Rebel T1i, and have an unhealthy obsession with using Lightroom 4, Photoshop CS6, Photomatix, and a bunch of Topaz plug-ins to wreck perfectly beautiful pictures.

I started this blog almost 3 years ago just looking for a place to vent my HDR pictures. After a couple of inquiries about my process it slowly turned into a tutorial based website. Now there are over 100 written and video tutorials for the viewing pleasure of anyone interested in HDR and photography post processing. I plan on keeping it free for as long as I can!
