Test Tube was working great, then I updated to Froyo an now I get the
following error message.
Test Tube could not connect to your Hava. Please Double check your
settings and try again.
How do I get TestTube working again. I did check my settings and they
have not changed. The IP address is correct.

Same issue for me since I updated my HTC desire to froyo two days ago.
Testtube was working fine with android 2.1 before the update. I
checked my testube settings and nothing has changed since the update.
Can you help me figure out what is going wrong?

Same here on my EVO (official 2.2).

I'm having the same issue on EVO since updating to official Froyo
release.

Just to add my $0.02, I have having this issue as well since upgrading
to Froyo on my Evo. It is almost as if TestTube doesn't even try to
make a connection because the error message (posted in the OP message)
comes back almost instantly.

Wipe out your phone (Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset). See if it
works.

I don't think you need to go that far. I had the same problem. Try uninstalling testtube and reinstalling it. Probably be a bit faster and you don't have to worry about re-setting everything on your phone. I would try that before a full blown wipe.

Not sure a wipe is going to work. I've seen some other posts in other
groups with people having issues with RTSP video streams under Froyo.
I am also getting the same error when I try to connect with Meridian
Media player as well. I'll keep looking and trying and if I can't find
anything I'll do a wipe but that probably won't be until this weekend.

For those of you that are having problems with 2.2 Try unchecking the
fullscreen box and see if it works. The new fullscreen layout is the
only one that has the custom dialog boxes. I'm wondering if Android
2.2 doesn't like the dialog boxes for some reason. If the phone
continues to expierence connection problems then that will quickly
eliminate the dialogs as a possible source of the problem.

Thanks

Sorry for the second post.

I did a little more research and I'm with Devon, I think this is a
problem with the EVO 4G update.

People in this tread seem to be experiencing the same issues.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g/26814-htc-streaming-media-player-problems.html

If you haven't updated to 2.1 yet on an EVO consider holding off until
Sprint and HTC get this corrected.

Ok, here's another update. I did a Factory Refresh on my HTC EVO and
that did not help. Save problem. TestTube comes back almost
immediately with "TestTube Could Not Connect To Your Hava. Please
Double Check Your Settings And Try Again."

I also tried unchecking the Full Video option and that looks like it
wants to connect, but then after about 4 - 5 seconds it comes back
with "The application TestTube (process.overvoltagesoft.testtube) has
stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and the only option is the
"Force Close"

Hopefully someone will figure this out and I'll let you guys know if I
find anything else out.

Not sure if this helps, but the EVO does have the new Flash 10.1 built
in to the Froyo update and according to this article (under cons
towards the top) it looks like maybe adobe has a new implementation of
RTSP and maybe it needs to be called differently. I'm grasping at
straws here but just wanted to pass along the info

Here is the article:

http://www.zdnet.co.uk/reviews/mobile-os/2010/05/28/android-22-froyo-and-flash-player-101-for-android-40089072/2/

For those of you who haven't discovered it on your own, we've reported
this problem to HTC on their forum. http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/94/t/5287.aspx

The last comment suggests that the port may have been blocked. Can I
get a technically minded person with an EVO to verify this. Here is
what I am thinking on your local Wifi Network point your TestTube ip
address to a computer on your network running Wireshark. Try to
connect with testtube then. Obviously, it will fail, but if the ports
are truely blocked it shouldn't even register in the Wireshark
capture.

Let me know what you find out.

Thanks

Excuse my ignorance. I have a Droid X and as there is no update yet...

I've read that Adobe Flash uses RTSP.
Has anyone installed it on froyo and does it work?

I have froyo (Motorola leaked FRG01B rom) and Adobe flash installed on
Droid and Test Tube works fine.

Possible Workaround for EVO users:

This was posted on the HTC forum. Give it a try and let me know if it
works or not.

"Ok I did a little debugging and found a workaround that works to
stream RTSP again over 3G.

First, it still works over Wi-Fi just fine.
3G no longer works, and don't have 4G to test.

But if you enable your WiFi antenna (do not need to be connected to a
router or anything), then RTSP works just fine.

I am guessing they disabled it when the 3G was the only antenna for
some reason , but as soon as you turn on your Wifi antenna , it works
again."

Thanks

Does the workaround allow you to watch the stream in Meredian?

SO we are out of luck with an EVO and 2,2? Is it time for sling?

well no...the testtube app works just fine. and the players we already have
for the hava boxes work pretty well.
and if you're buying new, it doesn't matter, there are players for about
everything. (except maybe the sony location free)

I have not gotten Testtube to work on my evo since before the Froyo
upgrade.
Was their a fix that I missed to get it working. I am not gonna buy
the Vulkano.

I have the same problem since getting 2.2 on my EVO
TestTube, any timeline on getting this resolved?

There is a beta version of the Monsoon Vulkano app that does 'work
better' with the EVO under 2.2 (Froyo). The link for it is over in
the
Vulkano forum. I have this working with my older Hava unit. There
still is bugs with the Vulkano software when using the remote, etc.
but the video does play now. Maybe hope for the future for getting
Testtube working under Froyo. Here is the link to the forum post:

Read the posts and you can download the .apk from your phone and
install it. Like I said it does work for me under Froyo, but there
are
bugs as it is a beta version.

Thanks for the link Devon, the beta works great (other than the remote bugs, of course).  I got it working with good audio and video over WiFi and 3G.  First time my Evo has connected to my Hava since the Froyo update.  Hopefully, you or someone else in the group can keep us posted when updates come out.  Thanks!
