Hi Simon,

sorry, for not getting back to you earlier. I just returned from a holiday (not having a computer with me was part of the fun).

First of all I want to express that I appreciate your work a lot. I am at the moment a little bit overwhelmed by the workload my day job gives to me. So I do not plan to release a new version of metrics before end of July. I hope this does not cause any discourage on your side. But I will definitely manage to have a closer look on your patches by then.

I am using metrics as a library in another project called visualizer. Therefore I myself currently do not need any features to include this into hudson, buildbot etc. But I understand the that this features are urgently required in order to make this package more useful for others.

Yes, and please talk to me about new features. I would be particularly interested in new metrics. Any ideas on that one?

Are you by any chance visiting EuroPython so we could discuss or sprint on the new features?

Cheers,
Mark

Hi,

I added a feature for your module.
It is now possible to select some output format using a new --format option.
For the moment, you only have the: "--format xml" available.

I look forward to talk with you about my two patches.
I am very interested in providing multiple format output (especially xml) for Metrics, so I hope we could discuss and plan how we could reach this goal.

Btw, I created an Hudson plugin that kinda work !
It uses your module beneath and my patch so that it yields xml and get parsed properly.

It is not yet reachable but here is a compilation of 3 screenshots that might appeals to you: http://yfrog.com/mvhudsonpluginmetricsmashp

Hope to hear from you soon,

Cheers,

Hi Mark,
my mail follow the one you may have just received from Sebastien Douche, a colleague of mine.

I just forked your project at: http://bitbucket.org/djcoin/metrics
You will find a small patch that improve the packaging of metrics there.
Hope you will merge it :)

I got a specific question on your module, i want to get a special output for it.
I heard you want to get JSON output format, yet I do not see any trace of it in the code.
However, I notice metrics:process() return a dict that may fit for any output format.

I'm sure you have your own idea on own to come and plug different format output.
How will it be done in the future ? How may I help you ?

I was thinking of plugin my output format in the main() method, getting advatange of the dict returned by process() ?

Btw, as Sebastian told you, we are looking to integrate your plugin into Hudson. I do not know yet how to do this.

Cheers,

Simon Thepot aka djcoin
