Hi,

I'm a software developer and am working on a small project. I was hoping someone could help me out.

The idea is to connect ERG monitors together via an iphone app so we can race from our respective houses.

I've been working with Tesseract, the standard code from Google et al. and have been unable to get it to recognize any of the images no matter what preprocessing I do. Is the trick to scale the image so the characters are 13pt or whichever size to match the font? Not sure what I'm missing. On the other hand, tesseract works perfectly well for entire scanned documents.

If anyone has any advice tricks to share, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

That's a challenging image to be sure, I was able to pull out a little bit of text by using a Difference of Gaussians filter in gimp and using Olena [1] to identify some text regions, see the attachments. It's still a long way from capturing all of the text but it might give you some ideas.
