Recently i'm engaged within an text recognition project. Therefor we've tested severy ocr-engines in terms of correct detection of characters.

There was one question left, i could not find an answer for. Is  skew correction of an image before text recognition neccessary in Tesseract3 ?

Maybe anyone has already experience with this topic. For me it's acually unclear, if tesseract itself rotates the image or is able to handle
rotated images out of the box.

Thanks for your help!

Small skew should not be problem, but see issue 643[1] and its comments.

Thanks for your help!
