tesseract 3.02 not able to retrieve text

I am trying to retrieve the text from attached image, but tesseract tool is not retuning anything. I tried the same with tess4J api, but no success. Can anyone help me with this.

You'll need to pre-process the image.

Grayscale:
MRN x255 one w» AGE w,»

Rescale to 300DPI:
MRN: 1259 DOB: <none> AGE: <none>

I tried after scaling the image to 300DPI, but no success. I am using java code to rescale the image to 300DPI.

Can you tell me what may be the issue.

 

Tesseract tool is not able retrieve the text which is of smaller font.

I used both grayscale and rescale and got better results. You can try out the combination in VietOCR (Java version).
