Recognizing Halfwidth katakana characters

I am having trouble recognizing halfwidth katakana characters from this image

I have checked the langdata_lstm for Japanese and found out that halfwidth katakana are included in forbidden_characters. Any tips on how to improve the accuracy of for half width characters?
