Error using equ.trainingdata through tess4j

Hello, I'm cross-posting this issue here, as I'm not entirely sure if it's a tesseract issue or the bindings.

I've opened a github issue with tess4j [1] containing the image, sample code and error. The error is:

id < this->size():Error:Assert failed:in file unicharset.cpp, line 270

When I try and use the equations language.

Was hoping someone here had an idea that could nudge me in the right direction.
