Hi Team,

Can Tesseract OCR work on Linux machine?

Because i have shown somewhere that it uses the dll files and as per my understanding dll only works in windows environment. I wish I am wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is available s a package on linux. If you want the latest version, you can build it. Or use the ppa from https://launchpad.net/~alex-p/+archive/ubuntu/tesseract-ocr

Yes, you are wrong. It's about the environment you build your tesseract in. For windows, it would create dll files and infact use many share dll libraries. Similarly, when building on Linux it would create Linux specific libraries like .so files and in fact, use many shared libraries. Go ahead and get your hands dirty already.
